Route 6

Route 6 is the only standardized route in and out of the Keflavik CTR. It is only available to light fixed wing aircraft with one engine. Route 6 is to be flown at 1,000ft unless otherwise instructed. Aircraft are expected to report overhead Kuagerdi.

Traffic able to accept route 6 should include "ROUTE 6" or "KUAGERDI" in their flight plan.

Examples

Entering via route 6

TF-SKN: Keflavik Tower, SKN, route 6, approaching Kuagerdi.

BIKF_TWR: SKN, Keflavik Tower, route 6 for runway 28, QNH 1012, squawk 1224.

TF-SKN: Route 6 for runway 28, QNH 1012, squawk 1224, SKN.

BIKF_TWR: SKN, readback correct, report approaching Patterson.

TF-SKN: Wilco, SKN.

Exiting via route 6

BIKF_TWR: SKN, left-hand turn for route 6, report passing Kuagerdi.

TF-SKN: Left-hand turn for route 6, wilco, SKN.

TF-SKN: SKN, overhead Kuagerdi.

BIKF_TWR: SKN, contact Keflavik Approach on 119.300.

TF-SKN: Approach on 119.300, SKN.

Directional Entries/Exits

Aircraft not able to follow route 6 will be cleared to enter/leave the zone in a direction relative to Keflavik (such as 'from/to the east') or via a visual reference point.
