Aerodrome Information

Vagar AFIS is not a control position and only provides general aerodrome, traffic, and weather information. Vagar AFIS does, however, control startup requests.

Taxiing

Aircraft will be advised "taxi at your discretion". You must notify Vagar AFIS before taxiing with your intentions.

FLI401: FLI401, request taxi.

EKVG_I_TWR: FLI401, taxi your discretion, traffic is a Cessna 152 vacating the runway.

FLI401: Taxi my discretion, roger the traffic, FLI401.

[... the other traffic is also notified of your intentions ...]

EKVG_I_TWR: G-DLMK, traffic is a Faroeline A320 taxiing from stand 2 to depart.

G-DLMK: Roger, GMK.

Lining Up / Taking Off

Whilst Vagar AFIS does not control the traffic on its frequency, it does still have tools to manage traffic flow.

You are not permitted to enter a runway or take off unless you are told the runway is "free". If the runway is "occupied", you must wait and not obstruct any aircraft in receipt of a "runway is free" advisory.

You may be told that the runway is "free for line-up". In this case, you may choose to line-up or continue holding, but must not take off until told the runway is "free".

EKVG_I_TWR: FLI401, runway is occupied, traffic is a Cessna 152 on short final for a touch-and-go runway 12.

Landing

Just like when taking off, you must receive a "runway is free" advisory before landing.
